Here at AveriStar we take our training seriously, this is by far the most important part of our business. Everyone wants to be in the telecom business but in order to do that and be successful you must have properly trained personnel to upkeep your network. It is essential that you stay on top of the latest tools and practices that allow you to do more with less. We customize our training around the customer. Some customers may not need all portions of the system admin course so we are able to adjust the course and focus on exactly what is needed.

Some of the differentiators with AveriStar courses versus other courses are that we obtain access to the customer platform and use that platform to make the training material. If we are creating a NOC course for Tier One Support we start out by speaking with the managers regarding procedures, inquiring about the top five issues coming in from customers and so on. This allows us to make a “cookbook” of the top 5 to 10 issues with solutions to those, questions to ask as well as the first things to look at on the platform to see if an issue is customer or platform related.

Another difference is that we typically keep class sizes smaller if possible, 12 people or less. There is a good deal of interaction in the classes including lab time; you must be engaged with the students. Occasionally we are asked about courses not yet offered in our training catalog. We are able to create any course needed by a customer as long as it fits our knowledge base. We ask that you allow us a 45-day lead-time to create the course material and class flow.

AveriStar offers three types of training, web-based, on-site, and training classes at our facility here in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our web-based training is ideal for a 1-3 hour training class where we use a Web-X type of instruction. We do not recommend this type of training for in-depth training classes that require a good deal of white boarding and class participation. On-site training works well for customers that do not have multiple locations. We set up the requirements such as phones, internet, projectors and other tools many days prior to the actual class. If more than one location is involved we can schedule classes at each location, travel and expenses are an additional charge above the class charge.

Lastly, we offer training at our facility here in Charlotte, which is a 20-minute cab ride from the airport. This works out well when we might have a class that 1 or 2 people from a company might attend. We can accommodate up to 25 people in the classroom and provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. There is a hotel directly across from the training facility that is very accommodating and priced at less than $150 per night.
